School Safety Week: Building a Secure Campus Together

We concluded a successful School Safety Week with drills, workshops, and new safeguarding measures to ensure every learner is safe and supported.

Safety is Everyone’s Responsibility

From 8–12 February, the whole school community took part in Safety Week. The focus: physical safety, emotional wellbeing, and digital protection.

Key Activities

  1. Emergency Preparedness: Full fire evacuation drill completed in under 3 minutes. Learners also practiced earthquake and lockdown procedures.
  2. First Aid Training: Forms 3–4 were certified in basic first aid by St. John Ambulance Zimbabwe.
  3. Cyber Safety: Forms 1–4 attended workshops on password security, social media risks, and identifying online grooming. ZRP Victim Friendly Unit facilitated sessions.
  4. Parent Session: 120 parents attended “Keeping Children Safe Online & Offline,” covering reporting channels and mental health support.

New Safeguarding Measures – Term 2

  • Upgraded CCTV coverage at all entry points and corridors
  • Strict visitor sign-in and ID verification at the main gate
  • New “Speak Up” Box and WhatsApp line for confidential student reports
  • All staff completed updated Child Protection Policy training

Deputy Head Ms. L. Sibanda: “A safe school is a learning school. When learners feel secure, they participate, take risks academically, and look out for each other.”

We thank ZRP, St. John Ambulance, and our parent body for their partnership. The full Safety Policy is available on the Parents Portal.
